From 13 to 16 December 2014 in Kyiv the first international training of creating videos "Memory walk" was conducted. Young and active German and Ukrainian participants passed the road of historical memory and tried to search answers to important questions. Well known Kyiv memorials, associated with human rights violations and discrimination helped to find the clue to them.
During the 4-day training "Memory walk" 9 German and 7 Ukrainian participants explored the theme of historical memory and its role in the future of society, trying to evaluate the impact of such historical events as Holodomor, Babi Yar and Maidan.
Participants were united into three groups, shooting video and interviewing passers-by near the monument to Anatoly Kuznetsov (a boy reading the order of the Nazis on the wall), a monument to the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 and on the street of "Heroes of the Heaven hundred" (Maidan events).
The participant from Germany Philipp Körner shared his impressions of Memory walk with the German online edition Volksstimme.de
The first international training Memory walk in Kiev was a great experience of cooperation of youth from Germany and Ukraine.
Training of creating videos "Memory walk" was organized by the Congress of National Communities of Ukraine in partnership with the Evangelische Akademie Sachsen-Anhalt eV for the financial support of Meet up! Deutsch-ukrainische Jugendbegegnungen Stiftung "Erinnerung, Verantwortung und Zukunft".
